The Old Idaho Penitentiary highly encourages guests to pre-purchase tickets online before visiting the site. We are now open daily, 10:00am-5:00pm (last admission 4:00).
To safely accommodate visitors, admission will be available each hour, limited to only 50 guests. Choose your visit time and purchase tickets online to allow for a smooth admission process.
Adult age is 13+, Child age is 6-12. Idaho State Historical Society members receive free admission!
Guests must arrive within 15 minutes of their scheduled admission time (except for Noon hour. Site opens at 12pm). For example, guests with 1:00pm admission can arrive between 12:45pm and 1:15pm. Guests arriving early will be asked to wait until their entry window begins. Guests arriving late are not guaranteed admission, and may have to wait for the next available entry hour.
Old Idaho Penitentiary admission is currently self-guided only. Staff will be available on-site to answer questions and encourage safe practices, including social distancing. All available exhibit buildings are open during visitation hours. Guests are advised to space themselves out to avoid forming large groups in confined spaces.
As a courtesy to other guests, visitors should plan on spending no more than two hours onsite.

Idaho State Historical Society admission and event tickets are non-transferable and nonrefundable.
In the event of an emergency
or added closure, online sales for that day will be disabled, and
purchasers will be notified via email as quickly as possible. Guests will be offered a refund or a chance to reschedule their visit, and be
offered a 20% discount on gift shop purchases at the time of their
visit.
