Throughout history, few people have carved out homesteads in the rugged wilderness of Salmon River country. Doug Tims and his partner Phyllis are two modern-day hearty souls who call the banks of the Salmon home. The book focuses on the Campbell’s Ferry homestead where Timms lives today. He and Phyllis researched and interviewed the pioneers who lived at Campbell’s Ferry, as well as the entire Salmon River wilderness, generations before them. The title Merciless Eden is a reference to the landscape, but this book is about the people who settled it.
