- In 1917, the Boise Floral Company donated shrubs and flowers for a garden in the southeast corner of the penitentiary. The inmates designed and built a fountain with cement donated by the Matron of the Women's Ward. A northeast corner rose garden took shape in the 1920s, becoming the site of six executions by hanging between 1920 and 1929.
