  • Dennis served a sixteen-year life sentence at the Idaho State Penitentiary. Born in 1952, a man working in the prison barn found Dennis as a kitten. The guards allowed him to keep Dennis even though incarcerated men were not allowed pets. Dennis roamed the prison yard and made many friends. The guards and prisoners all grew to love him. In 1968, Dennis passed away peacefully in his sleep. The prison population performed a special funeral in his honor, providing him with a headstone. Dennis is the only "inmate" buried inside the prison walls.
