  • Idaho State Penitentiary inmates first formed baseball teams around 1897 and officially adopted the "Outlaws" team name around 1930. Any prisoner could try out for the team. After an escape attempt on a train by three players, the Outlaws played mostly home games. A former opposing player remembered them as "the best team I ever played against."
